31 Day Photo Challenge {Day 29}
Home…

I’m not sure who said it best, Dorothy when she declared “There’s no place like home!”, or Edward Sharpe when he sang “Home is wherever I’m with you.” I agree with both; home is where you find the ones you love most and there is no place like it. I have lived in many different houses throughout my life and I can remember the number that hung on the front of almost everyone of them. Each number has been different but one thing remains the same; It’s where I have felt the most comfortable, the most loved, and the most secure. There is nothing that compares to walking though the door of the place you call home. The feeling of warmth, the familiar smell, the way the air feels around you…you breath it in, and instantly feel at ease. You can kick off your shoes, dance around in your skivvies, sing at the top of your lungs, and say and do whatever you please. It’s such a free feeling of total relaxation. There really is no place I would rather be, except maybe the beach…hmmm…now there’s a thought…

Pattern…
Day 28!! I can’t believe I’ve made it this far and haven’t given up! Only 3 more days to go!

This is a beautiful afghan that was made for me by my Mother-in-Law. I can’t imagine all the time and patience it took for her to make this. It’s so special because she made it just for me, in my style and I think it’s fabulous. I will always cherish it and think of her when I wrap it around me to keep warm on those cold winter days. It almost makes me look forward to winter…almost.

Fashion…

Hi, my name is Jackie and I am a scarfoholic. I love them! I have so many of them and at least 8 of them are black! It’s ridiculous actually. I just love the way the they complete an outfit. If you don’t have the perfect necklace to go with that top, why just add a scarf! You can wrap them, toss them, loop them, so many ways to wear them! Their fun, classy, and iconic; their not just for bundling up to stay warm in the winter! Do yourself a favor, go buy a cute scarf! But, don’t say I didn’t warn you…they’re addicting!

Warning…

Today we drove to the top of a mountain. I’m serious. It was terrifying (although I acted as if I wasn’t scared at all) and beautiful. Once we finally made our way up the curvy road and ended at our destination of Round Knob, there we saw another road that was basically a muddy path that went even higher up the mountain. They really didn’t need to warn me not go up it. It’s not a road I will every travel because I’m pretty sure I would be eaten by a bear.

Water…

I found it very fitting that the theme for Thanksgiving day was water. After a delicious meal with my family I had the honor of cleaning the dishes. Most days (OK everyday) it’s something I dread, but on this day it was my pleasure. I was thankful to have food to place upon the dish, a family to eat the delicious food off the dish, and hot water at my disposal to clean the dish with. I’m so thankful that I can turn on the faucet and have clean running water to drink, bathe in, and clean with anytime I need it.

Sports…

It’s no secret that I am no sports fanatic, so I really thought I was going to struggle with this theme. Luckily enough for me, we were visiting my in-laws for Thanksgiving break and per usual tradition my husband and his dad decided to go golfing. It’s something that they look forward to doing together each time we visit. For them it’s not about the game, or the score but about the time they get to share with one another. I know it’s something that they both treasure, and I hope they are allowed the privilege to do this together for many more years to come.
31 Day Photo Challenge {Day 22}
Culture…

When I think of the word culture I think of big city skyscrapers, fine dining, Broadway plays, and museums. Growing up in a very small town I always felt like something was missing from my life. I longed for the bright lights of the city, for the hustle and bustle, for the culture of it all. I wanted to see the people that inhabited the city, to go to a show, and dine on the finest cuisine. I love city life. My dream is to one day live in the best city on earth (I ♥ NY); but for now I will be happy with Columbus and take advantage of all it has to offer.
31 Day Photo Challenge {Day 21}
Movement…

To have a birds eye view if only for a moment. To see the beauty of nature from the limbs of a tree. To have the freedom to spread my wings and fly above the earth with ease. How would it feel to have the wind gliding along my feathers as I reached top speed? To perch on the tallest mountain and rest beside the sea. I could come and go as often as I please. The only expectation would be for me to fly, to move, and be free…
31 Day Photo Challenge {Day 20}
Door…

I feel like there are so many things that can be said about a door: You open them, you walk through them, you close them to keep people out, and you lock them to keep yourself safe. What I like to notice about the door is the thing that lies down at the bottom, just a little out of focus. That thing you walk over and wipe the dirt from your shoes on before you go through the door…The Doormat. Doormats don’t have a voice, they can’t be heard, they are literally there for stepping on. No doormat has ever said, “Excuse me please don’t wipe your dirt on me.” Or “Hey, Don’t walk on me to get to what you want faster.” For me personally I’ve had to learn to how to not a be a doormat and how to say “No, you may not walk on me.” It hasn’t been easy, but it’s been a growing processes and a good life experience. I’ve learned that I have to be the one to walk through my own door, to go after what I want and not let myself get stepped on along the way.
Turn the knob and walk through the door; don’t be the doormat.
